Description

The AS600 showcases many of the same design characteristics and features of the AS250 but with optimization for the higher excursion requirements commonly associated with reproducing bass and mid-bass frequencies. With a mounting depth of 2.85 inches, it maximizes the benefit of its high-strength Y35 Ferrite motor in an efficient and thermally stable design. Magnetic flux is controlled in the AS600 by an extended copper sleeve over the motor's T-Yolk for exceptional clarity and increased bandwidth. Like its smaller partner, the AS250, the AS600 has the same high-temperature CCAW coil technology but measures 1.5 inches in diameter (38.1mm). The winding former is a non-conductive high-temperature Till fabric material that reduces the speaker's overall moving mass while helping eliminate unwanted magnetic field creation as the cone moves forward and rearward from rest.

Out of the box, you’ll see a red foam ring at the base of the cone. This ring keeps debris out of the voice coil gap during  assembly, shipping and installation. The ring can be removed  once the speakers are ready to be played.  Topping off visible family relation to the RS speaker line, the AS Series  uses the same highly recognizable dust cap design that ARC Audio  fanatics call the “juicer.” The Juicer eliminates the drawbacks of  undamped dust caps and cross-cone nulls in many phase plug designs  in the 400-hertz region thanks to the semi-parabolic side profile that  includes sharp vertical splines that add lateral rigidity. In addition to their  significant sonic benefits, the impressively strong shape helps eliminate dents and damage from wandering fingers of users kids in their vehicles if in unprotected applications or when on display in a retail location. The cones in all the new AS Series speakers use a  mixture of hard-pressed Aramid Fibers with extracted  pulp and coconut fibers. This highly regarded mixture is known for its stiffness, low mass lightweight proper ties, durability, stability and resonance control at  higher excursion levels. The result is a smooth but  powerful and accurate sound reproduction of the recordings, especially in demanding audio systems. The cones on the AS250, AS600 ad AS690 are attached to their respective basket with a low-shore rubber  surround for optimal longevity.
